About Masterton Enterprise and ME (Shaun Masterton) |

| |
Masterton Enterprise was founded on 6th August 2006 in West Lothian, Scotland by Shaun Masterton (me), who had a simple vision that became a challenge he wanted to embrace.
I was born in Edinburgh on January 8th 1978 and spent my first three years in this world staying with my parents at my Nana and Granddad’s house in Edinburgh. When I was 3 years old, my parents got our first family home in a new town called Livingston. This is where I would embark on my journey through life and learn who I was going to be as a man. I stayed in Livingston until 1996 and you will understand why I have a love for the town and still call Livingston Home. I’m no longer staying in Livingston but I’m only 5 minutes away by car from there now. I now stay in Broxburn in my own flat which is the first ever flat I have had in my life.
I have always been creative in some form or fashion. I started by making games when I was a child to keep me busy whenever I got grounded as a child. These games started around my toy cars I had when I was 6 years old and eventually led to me creating games with a deck of cards, bit of paper and a pen. During my early teen years, I discovered I had a photographic memory and was able to look at a picture and re-create the same picture by drawing a bit of a picture at a time. This was like putting a jigsaw together but with small pictures in my head of the overall picture I was drawing.
I started writing in 1997 and this came from me always wanting to write a song. I eventually sat down and wrote my first song; well what I thought was a song. I showed what I wrote to my family and friends and most people would say “it reads more like a poem”. So that was it, I started calling my song a poem instead.
I don’t remember what the first poem I wrote was called or what it was about. However I do remember that it wasn’t very good but I was still proud of it. It wasn’t until my fifth poem called “Fall in love again” that I really felt I had written something that actually rhymed well. However, every writer is always going be there worse critic I expect.
As the millennium was coming, I decided to buy my first computer and few months later, I discovered chatting rooms. It was within chatting that I was introduced to a chat program called mIRC, which had its very own script editor that allowed you to make your own scripts to work with the actual mIRC program. After using other people’s scripts, I wanted to know how the different features were coded and soon began to teach myself how to code my own mp3 player and other type chat scripts that was popular.
I don’t remember for certain but I believe shortly after I discovered mIRC, it was soon suggested to me that I should try web designing and Yahoo’s free web design service (geocities) was a great place to start. As it turned out, I was correctly informed about geocities, as it had its own page builder that allowed me to place text an images precisely where I wanted. As always with me, I began to get curious on exactly how the web design actually worked and wanted to know about the code side and learn how to do it myself. After awhile, I had started my own personal website called shadowslandofmystery which showcased my mIRC scripts , poetry and other topics that were hobbies of mine and something I thought visitors would be interested in.
Between 2004 and 2005, I was at a college where I met someone who became a good friend, he approached me about a business idea he had. Besides to say, I was intrigued by this idea and started a production company with this friend. This company (Caddonlea Productions) is still on-going today but unfortunately I had to leave for financial reasons, by this time I had the business bug and wished to continue in business. I decided to take the web designing knowledge I had and build a business model around what was a hobby. As I was working on the business plan, I remembered the reasonable success I had with shadowslandofmystery website and decided to incorporate my experiences with this domain name into my business plan.
The vision for Masterton Enterprise is simple, to provide professional looking websites that covered a range of popular topics, which would be added to over time. These topics will generally be related to hobbies of mine but also subjects that I deem a large percentage off internet users will also enjoy. These websites would provide much content that people on the World Wide Web demand from the websites they frequently visit.
As with all journeys, the Masterton Enterprise journey is a long way and can only work with your help. Join the Masterton Enterprise journey and contribute to a little corner of the web which will expand into a much larger corner over time with your participation.
